Chapter 39 - Times past and things to learn... a time to live

It's been three months since that day... New York has returned to its vibrant busy life thanks to the drive of commercialism. Everyone took advantage of the Sky Flood attack three months ago. Insurance companies sky rocketed in new customers, all trying to buy flood insurance... since then I've reunited with a few friends, Halo met up with his girlfriend again and I met up with Isaiah too. I have no family to go back to, none that knew I was alive anyway, and honestly I preferred it that way, I wasn't ever attached or too close to them so what was the point, it's not like I was going to allow myself to be taken under their wing anyway. Life isn't bad though, I live on my own, off my own strength and its done me well, I even managed to get myself a little studio in Hells Kitchen. How did I come around to that you may ask? Well remember back when I first met up with Halo and Hacker again? And there was this creature? Well let me school you in on some details. That, monster thing was called a chimera, unlike the Greek legends, a true chimera is a person who has the ability to change into some monstrous demon form, I've never seen them until I came back and according to Hacker sightings of them have increased. I took it up with Saivent and he's the one who told me the truth. A chimera is a person who changes because of their blood imbalance... come to think of it I've never explained it have I? Alright so I guess now is the best time to do so. Spirit, elemental and power users are the most prime examples of the blood imbalance, because humans are descendants of angels and demons their blood is a perfectly balanced mixture of both, but that's not always the case, on rare occasions the child will be born with an imbalanced blood mixture, either more demon or more angel, the end result is one of the three. Elemental users and power users exist through natural imbalance, generally a spirit user is a reincarnation of a person from The Great War. The spirit remains strong and forces the blood to become imbalanced, the other way a spirit user is born is through direct rebirth, if a person dies and is brought back to life then that means their spirit has passed through either hell or the Angel Sanctuary thus giving them a huge boost. And an avatar is a person whose demon and angel blood mix and instead of neutralizing they combine and create new being, I don't know of any in existence but according to Saivent, they are able to control the inner gates also known as charka gates. And finally back to the chimera, they are people who change into a demon form, their blood acts like an infection, they can change at will as well. I've met 3 so far, the first was the day I met Halo and Hacker, the second one I met while in the streets one night and same with the third. Which brings us back to how I got that studio, basically some guys daughter was being attacked by some guy and I happen to come by, he knocked her out and attacked me when he realized "what" I was he changed into his chimera form, it was some weird rat looking thing, suffice to say I beat him and I took the young lady home, she awoke in my arms right before her father opened the door, and to make the story even shorter he thanks me by giving me the studio free of rent, and that's how I been living for a long while...
