Chapter 33 - Saivent's joy, fate and destiny

[Edge stands staring at his right hand which is consumed in a swirling flame, he looks completely zoned out as a gust of wind kicks up out of nowhere, a figure materializes and it's Saivent]

Saivent: Edge, is that you?
Edge: Huh... Saivent?
Saivent: I'm so happy to see you!

[Saivent jumps at Edge hugging him like a small child hugging a new toy out of joy, the view is slightly comical due to the fact that Saivent is six foot, one inch while Edge is only a short five foot, five inches]

Edge: Hey, I'm glad to see you too, what happened here it looks like a hurricane ran through here...
Saivent: It's... Testament...
Edge: Testament?! How the hell...
Saivent: You have no idea do you?
Edge: How the hell do I have any idea whats going on, I don't even know how much time has passed since I was gone
Saivent: It's been almost a month...
Edge: That's all just a month and all this has happened, what was it, one disaster after another?
Saivent: I'll explain... after you and Judgment fought, you disappeared, then shortly after Testament appeared. He used the Sky Flood, that's what happened, that's why the city looks this way
Edge: Why do I get the feeling I coulda prevented all this...
Saivent: Things happen for a reason
Edge: By now you still think I believe in fate?
Saivent: Well fate, rather The Fates are the ones who weaves ones destiny
Edge: The hell... I though God was the one who controlled peoples destiny
Saivent: No, Jehovah's existence only influences ones destiny, you see for every choice we make The Fates end up making a new pattern, you heard of them in Greek mythology right?
Edge: No, not really...
Saivent: The Fates were 3 sisters, birth, life and death. Birth, the one who spins the threads of life, Life, the one who weaves the pattern of death, and Death the one who cuts the pattern from the loom and tears it apart for another life
Edge: Wait, Death, is she the one in the hood and scythe?
Saivent: No, that's the Agent of Death, he is an entity like myself under the command of both Lucifer and Jehovah
Edge: Gees, this just gets more and more complicated...
Saivent: But yeah, the fates are the ones that determine what pattern to make for you based on your decisions in life, think of it this way, there's a piece of paper, and you take a pen or pencil and draw a circle however small however big, or in fact any shape you want that's your destiny, now take that pen or pencil again and put a single dot inside that circle where ever you want, that's your fate, from the moment your born, that piece of paper will be made in the loom, then the circle is all that will ever encompass what you will achieve or can achieve, and finally that dot is all the decisions and choices you have made till the very end, all those choices and decisions lead to why that dot is there, its cause you made it go there, you put it there using your ability to chose and decide
Edge: Well... that sure puts a spin on things doesn't it... I guess that saying is true... "No fate but what we make..."

Saivent explained to me what was what, and I got another history lesson from him, he told me that I just need to be strong right now, everything is gonna work it self out, I just need to think and use my brain.


Chapter 34 - Good news, a weeks worth to go

Saivent left me to my own, after that talk I realize things weren't bad at all, I had a new found confidence in me and I decided to head home, but then again what was the rush, there was no one around so I can technically do anything I want, alright then, for the time being, home was gonna be the fanciest hotel I could find that isn't ruined, and I know exactly where to go. Instead of trekking through the snow like an idiot I just jumped to get around.

[Edge is leaping block long distances at a time from the fountain all the way back down to Columbus Circle]

I forgot what it was like to be alive... usually I'd just fly where I needed to go with my red flame, but I can't do this with the blue flame, there is one thing I notice about this flame though... I can move around a lot more easily like I'm a ninja or something, that probably explains the extra distance and boast from my leaps...

I made it down to Columbus Circle and right beside it was Trump International Hotel and Tower.

[Edge has a devious grin on his face]

The lower levels were all flooded through so there wasn't anything useful there. Thank goodness for vending machines and non perishable foods. The lower levels were messed up but the upper levels should be fine, the sky flood shouldn't have hit that high up...

[Edge opens the door to the stair case and looks up]

This is gonna take a while but I'll manage. The stair case was one of those types that has a giant column of empty space in the middle while the stair case hugged the walls. I looked up and kneeled down, took a deep breath, ignited my azure flame and pushed off...

[Edge goes streaming past the first 20 floors and he grasps the hand rails before leaping again all the way up to the upper floors]

I was on the 48 floor and I must admit what a view it is, the snow though is covering all the damage... I guess it's a bitter sweet view... my next concern was electricity was there any at all? That's the million dollar question...

[Edge turns on TV and...]

Yes there is electricity! Great now I can do a few things like watch the news...

[The TV is full of static but Edge turns to the cable channels, they are clearer but still with some interference...]

Newscaster: After 3 weeks since the unknown flash flood that consumed New York City, citizens will be over joyed to hear that within a week everyone will be allowed back in. Most New Yorkers have fled to neighboring cities and left many possessions behind, now they will all be allowed back in so the busy city can continue to thrive and recover from this tragic incident of nature. In other news the christian and catholic church have both agreed that the recent incidents are a warning sign of the end, the military on the other hand have blamed terrorism for the recent onslaught of accidents and unexplained occurrences, stayed tuned for more on CNN New jersey filling in for the New York City area.

So I have a week worth to wait eh? I guess I'll relax till then


Chapter 35 - Welcome home New Yorkers

For the whole week all I did was sleep and keep up with the news, on occasions I would head out and just walk around, but at last it was time. Today was the day that everyone would be allowed back into the city.

[Edge gets ready and puts his clothes on, and slips his signature right hand weight lifting glove on. He heads to the window of the room he's staying in, opens it and looks out]

Hmm... Here I come...

[Edge leaps out of the window and starts to free fall, after he passes the fist 10 floors he ignites his flames and right before he reaches the bottom he pushes off against the wall of the building and that breaks his free fall sending him jetting forward parallel with the street. The moment his sneakers touch the floor he begins to run as fast as he can leaping whenever he feels he needs to. The snow has long since melted...]

I need to make my way home, my family is probably worried about me, I don't know where they are though or if they're even alive... and Perry, and Hacker I'll be able to see them as well...

[Edge continues to run as fast as he can downtown, he takes a few breaks along the way and eventually he makes it all the way to south street seaport, there he sees people walking across the bridge. Once again he takes off and head toward the Staten Island ferry and he sees a lot of people disembarking]

Alright so people are already here I won't be able to use my powers dashing around anymore, I'll have to be human for the time being... I left the ferry and headed back to the bridge where I had to fight to make my way across back into Brooklyn. When I finally made it across everyone was out and already they started to clean up I managed to hitch a ride to my home and in all honestly I coulda made it back in about half the time if I just flew.

[Edge is sitting in the car with the guy who picked him up]

Peterson: My names Peterson, so you're heading home?
Edge: Yeah, thanks for the lift yo
Peterson: No problem
Edge: Hey where are most of the people coming from?
Peterson: Well I'm coming from up in queens right now I'm going to Bay Ridge to see my sister, but most people fled to Long Island or New Jersey
Edge: So the Sky Flood mainly effected Manhattan then...
Peterson: The sky what?
Edge: Oh nuttin, I was just thinking out loud
Peterson: Well I see then
Edge: Yeah...

I guess Perry coulda been in either Jersey or upstate since that's where he has family... anyway, the guy dropped me off on 4th Ave. and I walked down the block to my home, I opened the door since it wasn't locked and it didn't seem like anyone was there or ever was there. So I just went in and waited...
No one showed up and its night time already, I fear that I might be a loner from here on out... I turned on the TV on the 3rd Floor, it was the only floor that was decent and almost untouched, all I heard on the news was...

Newscaster: Welcome home New Yorkers

there that should make up for sum lost time, also sorry for not haivng naythign new, am waiting to build up sum money resevres so i can get a new Canon SD 800IS and YES this camera is what i will use for video capturing and animations devs form now on, also will be useful for snap shots for memeory stuff, maybe sum on the fly manip ideas and such, and probally for stocks too, anyway keep an eye out an di promise i wont disappoint, then again when it comes ot my manips, how often do i disappint? ( lol ok no more mr cocky all high an dmighty edgey)

CONCLUSION - Well there you go the official conclusion of the 2nd DFFX contest, the entries were great but as always there were some that outshined the rest ideas are now opened for NEW CONTEST THEMES!!!
